An Architecture for Animals

The Forest Learning Centre is a destination within Helsinki’s Central Park (Keskuspuisto), where humans can stop by and learn about biodiversity, sustainability, even in such an urban woodland.

The centre comprises of a library, textile workshop, sauna and café, offering entry-level education on the forest at all levels. Spaces intended to accommodate forest creatures are integrated into the building fabric, so as to allow human users of the building to observe and learn from them, in order to further spread awareness about non-human neighbours and how easy it could be to integrate them into our lives, building symbiosis and understanding.
